Making the case for a better tool in a busy workflow

BuzzFeed video producers had aggressive video output goals and throwing a wrench into their existing workflow was met with resistance, even though our dashboard consolidated the information they were pulling in from multiple other dashboards at the time. So we began by designing and building a Chrome extension that IT installed onto every video producer’s laptop and would open whenever they viewed a BuzzFeed video or the Facebook/YouTube/etc metrics dashboard for those videos. This allowed producers to become familiar with the benefits of the enhanced tool and then click through to the full dashboard for more detailed data. We saw a huge increase in adoption and positive sentiment.
